update on Renae and her schedule
As promised...I am still a very bad blogger ;)

I survived the spring shows....just barely!!
I attended 4 shows in the span of 6 weeks...while finishing my latest show quilt in time for the MQS deadline. I got it done (with 30 minutes to spare) and overnighted it to MQS in KS. I must give a HUGE thank you to my family who supported the CRAZY work hours necessary to get this done! They are the best!!

It was awarded Best of Show and I couldn't have been more thrilled. My face hurt from smiling so much! The new quilt is titled "Beauty from Within" and can be viewed in my award album http://www.renaequilts.com/Awards.html I loved working on this quilt and it challenged me in many directions. I included embroidery, shadow trapunto and shadow embroidery. I used plenty of metallic and silk threads, bobbin work and deco stitches. I must say that the YLI silk thread is amazing and allows for very tiny stitching. Combined with the precision I can get with my A1 I was able to create the quilt as I imagined it.

I plan to attend the AQS shows in Nasville (how could I resist the last year in such a fun city?) and Des Moines (how could I resist the first show in a new city?) You will be able to find me in the A1 booth. Come visit with us there. I plan to sit and quilt and enjoy my quilting friends!

back from the cruise and ready for spring
WOW...what a great time we had on the cruise. The classes were fun. The company was even better and the warm weather and sunshine was absolutely gorgeous. I think Elaine plans to organize a cruise for next year too. She did a fantastic job!! I think everyone had a wonderful time.

Spring shows are coming up fast. I can't believe how time flies. I am busy finishing up this year's show quilt. I will post pictures when it is ready. I LOVE SPRING!

bad blogger
Well...I am obviously a very bad blogger! I checked to see how long it has been and I found the post asking for votes in the 100k contest. That is LONG over. Congratulations to Sharon Schamber who made the gorgeous quilt "Scarlet Serenade". It was a great contest and a beautiful winner was chosen.

Thank you to all who voted for my quilt. I appreciate all the great comments I have received. It was fun to participate and I was honored have a quilt as one of the 40 finalists!

March 1 2008 we sail!!
Elaine Gilmore has organized a machine quilting cruise. I will be teaching a new class.

Renae's Mariner's Adventure

Avast, ye mateys! In the Mariner's Adventure, Cap'n Renae be utilizing Renae's Mini Rays and Amazing Rays to draft a quilt top that be smartly makin' a splash! These tools be a true treasure map for draftin' and quiltin' medallion style designs. There also be a chest full of photo examples to help ye navigate yer way. Shiver me timbers! The Cap'n is even offerin' a chance to draft either a Mariner's Compass Medallion or a wholecloth quilt in a medallion style. All this in just four hours! And no threat of walking the plank, neither! Catch me drift?

If you would like more information about the cruise you will find it at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/machine_quilters_at_sea/
